I hope it gets appealed in Supreme Court and subsequently struck down. Basically, the Manitoba Gov't took these people's children away because they're racist fucks. I'm not saying it's at all cool to be racist or to teach your children your racist nonsense, but to deny somebody the right to raise their own children based on your opinion of their beliefs is bullshit. Does this not necessitate taking children from Islamic parents that believe in the destruction of Jews, too? Where does it end? +Solistus +Solistus Gutter Trash Registered: 06/19/00 Posts: 3930	Too lazy to RTFA, but my basic thought on the matter is this: I have a pretty all or nothing view when it comes to legally punishing people - either they're not hurting anyone and should have full civil and human rights including to raise their kids or they have crossed the line and, while vengeance doesn't do any good, violating that person's rights is fine by me if it's needed to protect innocents like their kids. If they are abusing the kids or thoroughly indoctrinating them while also censoring any contact with outside information/ideas/people, and it's bad enough that no other option seems possible, then I'm fine with taking the kids away. It's hard to draw the line, in an ideal world I wouldn't trust the majority of people to do anything of any real importance, let alone give them sole custody of a child, but this isn't an ideal world. I'm really unsure where exactly the line should be drawn on the indoctrination part, at least - any abuse severe enough to cause lasting physical injury and/or leave psychological trauma and I have no second thoughts about taking the kids away. _________________________ I've parted ways with the clan and won't be checking this forum much.
